I was just looking through my pony archives and something occurred to me that I'm not certain has been explored yet. In lesson Zero when all the ponies are fighting over Smarty Pants, Derpy is in an aggressive grapple with Mayor Mare... Might the destruction of Ponyville Town Hall not have been an 'accident'?

I mean... she did seem fairly pleased with herself while pleading ignorance of knowing 'what went wrong.'

This changes my views on some things.

Seriously, it was gonna come down. She sat on the floor, it broke. She bumped into a pillar, it broke. You expect me to believe she's some sort of iron pony that can smash stuff at a glance? No, it was termites what did it, due to no money being spent on maintainence and the mayor needed a patsy, and who better than that stupid clumsy pegusus? Derpy gets the blame, the mayor gets off scott free and continues to embezzle Ponyville's taxes to support her drug habit.

It was a setup I tell you! A setup!

You ever see the first Tim Burton Batman movie?

*Thinks*

That wasn't the one with Mr Freeze... ah yes! The Joker! Burton Joker is best Joker.

I have, why do you ask? How does it relate?

Heh. Oh. OH.

Derpy should be Harley Quinn. (We already have a 'Mr D'!)

Derpy is Batman and the Mayor is the Joker.

Eh, Prince Blueblood would be more fitting (He's got the rich playpony jerk bit down pat.)

Derpy might make a good Plastic Mare (Dash is Flash. Twilight Jhonny Storm.)

Oh, wow. Because, of course, she _can't_ know what went wrong in this case - because it all went _right!_
OMG, Hasbro is subtly advocating sabotaging your competitors - even if only for revenge!
... Strangely, I'm perfectly okay with this. Let's teach the new generation that it is perfectly okay to be downright vicious in your dealings with others, provided they don't get caught. Because they'll learn it sooner or later.

But if that's the case, should her vengeance had been more... personal? After all, town hall is a public building, so any damaged to it doesn't really affect the mayor, while, say, destroying her home does...

Or maybe it was her first step into a plan more or less like the killdozer one.

I thought about that. Maybe the town hall is also an executive mansion?

Well, it could be, after all the building itself seems to be too big for Ponyville, heck, maybe those other politicians we saw on "smile, smile, smile" also live there.

Hum, if true, one can only wonder what happens over there after night...

I'm convinced that the other politician ponies were Mayor Mare's husband and daughter (nepotism). I'm thinking also that maybe there was another son/daughter who was in the town hall at the time?

...

No, that's too dark.

It could be that they are actually a family, but still, I believe that there is some kind of democracy going on on Equestria (otherwise the mayor should be some sort of noble, which so far seems unlikely), so for me they are just co-workers.

So yeah, in your theory I agree its too dark, while in mine considerable but unlikely.

I figured it was like the feudal system where mayors and sheriffs weren't nobility but were appointed by the nobility.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one.

So, in the end we could agreed that Derpy attacked the Town hall looking for revenge on Mayor Mare and her (supposed) family, while the mayor itself was completely oblivious of this fact due to the nature of their original confrontation.

A curious outcome of a curious theory.

Those two episodes were far apart and probably most irrelevant.
I'm not too very sure that there is a connection here. :)

Episode 106: Snips and Snails fall in love with the magician Trixie.
Episode 118: Snips and Snails perform a magic act at the talent show following their idol's foot steps.

That's a 12 episode spread. Episode 203 to 214 is only an 11 episode spread. Not proof, but evidence.

YOU ALL HAVE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT NOT ALL EPS ARE IN A CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER SHOW WISE. SO MOST EPS COULD HAVE HAPPEN BEFORE OR AFTER A CERTAIN EP. JUST DEPENDS ON A FEW FACTS IN THE SHOW.
