Pills are inherently evil for some reason by Gavalanche Pills are inherently evil for some reason by Gavalanche
I finally had a chance to sit down and do some artwork today. Should I finish those commissions first? How about that special request I've been dawdling on for over a month now? The next Date Night? Cindy has been awfully quiet lately. For that matter, Ask Any-pony has been virtually abandoned!

I go on Ponibooru to see what the current trends are and find this. [link]

NEVER MIND THE COMIC (it's cute), read the comments and be prepared to become not smarterer!

Anyway, the idea of automatically having the type of tard-rage, temper-tantrum a 6 year old would typically have on the internet for the rest of the world to see because in your warped mind a character who has anxiety problems (which is 100% fucking canon! In "bird in the hoof" Fluttershy flat out tells Twilight she has anxiety problems in crowds.) taking pills to help her cope is somehow worse than seeing futashy fuck futashy in the ass is what inspired this piece.

Drawn in haste, because I didn't want to waste one more minute on this junk comic than I absolutely had to.

...

I think I accidently just created a prediction comic for tomorrow's episode.

First all, I really liked this comic. I also saw the other person's comic and I thought it was fine and did not deserve that or any kind of backlash. Now excuse me while I step on that soapbox over there (steps up).

I will preface this by saying this more about about the attitudes a lot of people have about mental health services and medication in general than about ponies having mental health issues There is nothing wrong with taking anti-anxiety or any mental health medication as long as there is a legitimate, clinical reason for taking them. It's just like taking blood pressure medication or pain medication. If there is a diagnosable disorder (from testing and psychiatry assessment) and the medication is taken as prescribed, then a person should be looked down or be thought of as a lesser person simply because they are taking a mental health medicine. (steps off soapbox)

I actually would like to see a continuation of this comic if you feel inspired to do so. Once again I really enjoyed this and forward to your next comic.

Lol dude, yeah.
The response on Ponibooru was absolutely absurd, but I guess that's what I get for pissing off the fluttershy fans.
I guess I'll have to do it even more and not resolve the issue until a much later story arc. :3

And this is awesome, by the way. XD

Honestly the anon who made the first comment that started everything didn't even bother me. They obviously had some ax to grind on some barely related issue and was just venting like an upset 12 year old (probably is an upset 12 year old too!). What really irked me was all the idiots who jumped in and tried to put on some sort of air of moral superiority by making terribly constructed arguments about why both the anon commenter and you, the artist, were equally wrong.

I'm not certain if you were originally setting out to troll the fans or not. I don't think you were, but then I've never set out to do it either. Sometimes it just happens, but sometimes... especially after episodes and event like this... it's nice to know that there will be certain people who just do not see the humor of the situation you portray and take things way too seriously. In those cases it's great knowing that just the right people got pissed off.

I will be very disappointed to not see Fluttershy with lots and lots of pills in the future.

Oh no, my intention wasn't to troll the fans at all. It was honestly a logical progression of the character, as well as trying to figure out what I could do to add in new quirks, along with an iconic accessory, like Stalkerloo's turtleneck or Twilight's gestapo hat. Thinking how she had anxiety issues, plus how she took care of animals, a red cross bag full of anxiety pills just seemed to be a perfect fit. That and it allows for a LOT of comedic potential.
And yeah, for the most part, the arguments were horribly constructed and hypocritical. That's fine, though, they just gave me another reason not to visit Ponibooru again. If they want to act that way, I just won't interface with them. No skin off my nose.
Heh, I definitely agree. Those people who take the show and fandom way too seriously... I don't mind trolling them. They need to grow up and learn to separate reality from fiction, along with being able to tolerate ideas they may not agree with.
And no worries. I have lots of plans for pilled-out Fluttershy, from calling Big Macintosh a tomato to finally standing up to Angel bunny, and much, much more.

I don't bitch about it but I myself always saw pills as a bad thing, like its a sign of weakness, I know some people HAVE to take them but I found that scene on the comic was probably not necessary honestly.
I think most people don't like it as it basically makes us think the artist thinks Fluttershy has a problem. You can't compare that to futashy at all, in that blog its not a problem at all if anything she actually enjoys "it".
I have ADHD (although now its more like ADD) and I hated having to take pills for it, I found it demeaning. So I'm not just being one of them I'm talking from my own personal experience.

I definitely am more anti-pill than pro, but as you said some people do legitimately just need medicine sometimes.

Maybe the scene wasn't necessary, maybe it is. From the story telling so far I don't think the artist includes too much "fat in the script". I suspect the pills may be a setup to something else. Or, maybe it is just trying to add dimension to the character. Maybe it is just an unnecessary and failed joke? I don't know yet.

You're right, this CANNOT be compared to futashy, and that is my point. Even if you are anti-pill there is no way a person should find a very much canon Fluttershy taking pills to be THE MOST offensive thing that's happened to the character ever. Mind you I don't think I've been offended by anything in this fandom yet (other than most of the commentors on Ponibooru), but I completely understand why some parts of the fandom (including that which I've created) is seen as distasteful and might ruin how some people enjoy the show. But to act like that anon did because a character with a declared anxiety problem is getting prescription anxiety relief pills ready just in case she needs them is totally uncalled for.

I'm sorry you felt that way about having to take pills for your own condition. I can personally relate to that, but if I may express my motivational speaker side a little bit; Don't let feelings of having to take pills as demeaning bring your self image down. I'm sure there's no way you can be made to feel happy about having to take pills but that doesn't mean you have let them control you and how you view yourself. Better or worse we all are who we are.

Well the main problem with the pills for ADHD it is literally to slow down my brain. (if your not sure what ADD/ADHD is its basically like if my mind is a TV it would be randomly flipping through channels several times a second while yours stays on the same channel most of the time)
But the side effects were lack of appetite and drowsiness so I decided on my own to stop taking them several years ago. I had to struggle more in school but I found the extra effort to get shit done on my own to be highly satisfying.

As for your last bit I could not have said it better myself, I never let anything control who I am and I would never try to do that to another person. I always try to see what people do from their point of view before voicing my opining or objection to what they are doing. I did not agree with what he did for the comic but I know he is no less a pony lover than I am and that's all that matters to me. What some do to bring down certain aspects of this fandom is disgusting as I said before we are all fans and all contribute in our own little ways whether its adorable chubbies or rainbow dash getting raped by tentacles (although it wasn't really rape she was not tied down or anything and had a speech bubble with a heart in it XD)

I was actually thinking of doing a response picture as well as that absolutely disgusts me. Despite what that idiot might think, mental illness can be inherited, which means there will be members of the target audience (8 year old girls) of this show in treatment for things like anxiety and depression. I think they threw me in therapy for it when I was 6. I would have LOVED it if there was a TV show that addressed it and told me it was ok back then.

Exactly. It's true that pills can be horribly abused, but that's true of almost ANYTHING. Alcohol, friends, video games, sex, even food are things that lots of people become way too dependent on and abuse. But that doesn't make those things inherently bad.

Apparently that anon just had a grudge against the artist.

I'm fortunate that I've never had mental or emotional problems that I couldn't handle on my own, but my feeling towards things like that is "why suffer?". Especially for anxiety problems, why live a stressed out existence if you don't have to. Maybe a more ideal solution is to receive therapy learn how to confront and cope with your anxieties, but if a short term relief is available why not use it before you hurt yourself, physically or mentally, or ruin your relationships with the people around you? This guy tries to make a character who does in fact according to the show have anxiety problems taking prescription pills for the anxiety disorder sound as if Nurse Redheart just prescribed that Fluttershy do a load of meth, buy some blood diamonds, then work it out while watching Swedish kiddy-porn!

I would love if you did a response piece to that post! I think the artist (at least in artistic and story telling terms) is great and didn't deserve a tard-rage beratement like that. I would love if by the end of this week dozens of artist have flooded Ponibooru with pictures of Fluttershy taking pills in some capacity or another. Prescription pills under a doctor's orders would be ideal, but a mouth crammed full of Ritalin could be lulz worthy as well.
